During Summer, Callicarpa look distinctly average with plain green leaves. However, this shrub shows its best self in Autumn when it develops purple berries which stand out against the other colours.
Callicarpa can be evergreen or deciduous. Shrubs must be grown near one another to ensure they are pollinated and the berries are produced.
The shrub can be planted on any soil in any situation as long as the soil is well-drained. It is best suited to fertile soils however.
