Kerria are deciduous shrubs which bare toothed leaves and five-petalled yellow or white flowers which appear in mid-spring.
The plants are favourable to any soil and location conditions as long as they receive either full sun or partial sun. They are also hardy in most places throughout the severest of winters.
Pruning should be undertaken after flowering with one in three stems being cut back to the ground every year. Care will have to be made to ensure the shrub does not become too large as the suckers and vigorous growth it can put on can become a nuisance.
