Pulmonaria are herbaceous or semi-evergreen rhizomatous perennials which have clusters of flowers which appear in late winter or early spring.

Plants should be positioned in a sheltered location which faces north or east, and which receives no sun or only some for a portion of the day. The soil should be moist but well-drained with any type except sand being suitable. Humus rich soil which lots of nutrients are particularly favoured.

Propagation can be done after flowering or in autumn to divide the plant. Also after flowering, the old and damaged leaves should be removed.

Bees are particularly attracted to the flowers which appear.
