Ribes covers a range of evergreen or deciduous shrub with palmately lobed leaves. The flowers it produces are small tubular or bell shaped which precede small, sometimes edible berries.

Full sun or part shade is required alongside any soil which is not chalky. Care should also be taken to avoid alkaline soils or exposed locations.

Propagation of the shrub can be made via hardwood cuttings in Autumn.

Pruning should be made in the dormant period in late autumn, however cuts may also be required in summer for vigorous shoots which appear.
