Water Lilies

Water Lilies feature a wide range of varieties of varying colours and sizes. They generally prefer still water, though some varieties can cope with some water movement.

When choosing a water lily, care will need to be taken to ensure that the type is hardy, and can survive Winter, or tropical in which case it will be lifted and stored in a glass house.


Dwarf Lilies have a depth of around thirty centimetres and spread up to seventy-five centimetres.

Small Lilies prefer a depth between fifteen and forty-five centimetres and can spread to over one metre.

Medium Lilies like a depth in the region of thirty to sixty centimetres, and spread up to two metres.

Large Lilies can achieve a maximum spread of three metres and like to be positioned in depths between forty-five and ninety centimetres.
