Yucca are another type of plant which at first look appear to be more suited to tropical climates, however they are actually quite hardy and able to survive very cold winters in the UK.
They require full sun conditions, but are happy with any exposure type. They do not like clay soils however as the medium they are planted in must be very free draining.
Yucca typically multiply by way of new shoots which appear next to the mother plant. These can be removed and replanted, however care must be taken not to damage the roots too much while severing the main root to the mother plant.
After twenty years, a Yucca can be expected to reach around two and a half metres in height.
