15 Storeys High was a ten episode radio series which preceded the better known television version.
Series 1
1. The Entry Phone
A man is trying to convince Sean he has won a prize via his entry phone as he contemplates life alone not having to deal with other people. He is visited by acquaintance Stuart who has been fired from the swimming pool for putting the wrong chemicals in the pool, with Sean worried that Stuart will need help by moving into the spare room. He also has to deal with Stuart's mother who is attracted to Sean, and who suggests he is lying about getting a lodger. Sean sets about finding someone to move in as a temporary arrangement and ends up upsetting the first suitable candidate. As the opportunity of getting a flatmate appears to ebb away, Errol appears at the door keen to take the spare room after hearing Sean shouting through the door entry system.
2. Dead Swan
Watching football, Sean is being disturbed by Errol whispering to him. Heading out to get a film developed, he struggles to understand the cashier at Sloppy Snaps, and pretends to be customer service representative from the company who decides not to offer her employee of the month as she'd have to make a speech. Returning to the flat, he finds PC Hamilton coming out of the toilet who has been contacted about a photograph of Sean holding a dead swan which was taken by his ex-girlfriend two years earlier. Taken into custody, Sean is eventually released after agreeing to a punishment which involves public humiliation while held in stocks. Attempting to get his ex-girlfriend to corroborate his story, Sean resigns himself to being on the end of thrown food stuffs by the mob gathering outside his block of flats.
3. Jolly Shopper
Errol is struggling to understand the rules of a game he is playing with Sean before heading out to the fish market for a job interview. Vince sets about reading Errol's list of ambitions, while Errol starts his job where people will be wiping their hands on his jacket. On returning home, Sean is less than impressed by the smell and sets about making him wash in Jolly Shopper bleach. Sean meanwhile sets about achieving his dreams, and settles on taking a good look at the Thames barrier but ends up in an argument with a bus ticket inspector. While at the shop, Sean misses out on the millionth customer award when another customer pushes in. The issue is soon corrected and Sean sets about getting vengeance on Emlyn Hughes.
4. The New Sofa
Sean has injured his ankle after falling out of his lifeguards chair and sets about having Errol serve his every need including returning a pack of crisps which have gone stale by way of a voice recording. He also has complaints about the new sofa which is proving uncomfortable. Errol meanwhile has received his deceased grandfathers smoking pipe and sets about listening to a tape recording on how to smoke a pipe. Sean receives a visit from the gas meter reader and sets about ensuring he is clean before being allowed to do his job as well as handling a prospective buyer for the sofa. Sean also gets himself a tattooed backside with the word Satan on it, before setting about recovering the sofa to retrieve a receipt for his crutches and the television remote control from it, where they discover their sofa was actually bought by an artist.
5. The Sticky Patch
Sean has a problem with a neighbour listening to techno at ten o'clock in the morning, with Errol suggesting speaking to her, though Sean is less than keen on getting involved with other residents. Errol meanwhile gets into trouble with the caretaker while trying to clean up weeks old sick from the lift, who demands he restore the original sticky patch, which soon gets him into further bother with a resident. Sean returns home from work to a quiet building and begins to believe that his mind control over his neighbour is having an affect while also having to deal with a conflict with a kid which was initiated at the swimming pool. Setting about meeting to resolve the feud, Sean is confronted by four kids with both sides setting about negotiating.
Series 2
1. The Stolen Plough
Sean gets into a disagreement with a woman running a lifesaving course at work, and is promptly rejected when she rejects his offer of a drink in the evening. Awaking the following morning, Sean calls the pub and reveals that he has stolen the plough and arranges for a return to the rather irate pub landlord with the help of Errol. He also finds that he has damaged a graveyard while dragging it home, as well as committed other transgressions, which has resulted in him being barred for life. The verger catches up with Sean looking for an explanation and is challenged to spend a night in the potentially haunted church crypt. Setting about finding a woman who also spent the night in the crypt, Sean discovers she was sent quite mad after her night. Sean however is looking forward to a night of drinking but discovers a horror unlike no other.
2. Billy Two Nans
Having lost a list of things he needs to do, Sean is hunting for it while Errol takes to exercising just one arm. Heading to the cobblers who he finds is having business troubles, he returns home to find Billy Two Nans in the flat toilet who has news that one of his grandparents has died and is looking for Sean to come to the funeral. Errol discovers that all his shoes have been damaged with the heels having come off along with the distinct smell of keys. On his way to the funeral, Sean gets grief for his choice of Wallace and Gromit tie and is continued to be annoyed by attendees who insist in calling him Gromit until Sean manages to save Billy's other gran from choking and produces a fantastic rendition of Elvis.
3. The Pigeon Lady
Vince is upset at the pigeons which keep defacating on his windows due to being fed by an elderly neighbour, while Errol is more keen on making friends with them. Errol also sets about entering a competition to win a stair lift which contrasts with Sean's attempts to live a minimalistic lifestyle. Selling a bunch of items at the market, he ends up selling his flask used to keep his lunch and ends up drinking it all before promptly leaving Errol in charge when feeling unwell. The pair also discover the old lady with the pigeons, Veronica, has moved out and Errol is keen to find her after Sean complained to the council potentially seeing her evicted, where they discover she has been moved to a pigeon feeder's refuge.
4. Decorating the Bathroom
Errol is taking his time in the bath while Sean is bothered by the nose hair of a man selling water filters, as the pair decide to head out to the pub to watch a patriotic rock performance. Returning back to the flat with Errol having the song stuck in his head, Sean decides that they should decorate the bathroom, though Errol has a strange aversion to looking at the decorating magazines, Reader's wives, featuring other peoples homes with naked people pictured alongside. Sean is also picked by a stranger to be his phone friend when he goes on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? despite his reluctance while also having an offer of a Reader's Wives husband offering to redecorate the bathroom - though he has a particular affliction which seems to be brought about be almost everything.
5. Errol's Girlfriends
Sean is feeling depressed which results in Errol feeling tense and somehow, irresistable to women. Sean heads to a poultry and game store where the owner attempts to sell him a goose which he suggests will radically change his life before returning home to Errol who has split up with Karine and got together with Samantha who he also doesn't particularly like. Sean's sleep is also being disturbed due to a bad pillow and has resorted to keeping his life interesting by constantly changing his bank PIN. Finally heading to the store to purchase a pillow after three years, he forgets his PIN and ends up getting his card eaten by the machine. He eventually manages to finally get some rest with his new pillow.
