1. The Old Ones Are Hard to Kill

An elderly lady, Mrs Canvey, has taken in a lodger who soon becomes seriously ill. He offers a deathbed confession that he was paid to commit a murder and someone else was found guilty and went to prison for it. Doubting his words, the lady takes to investigating the story herself and is able to discover the truth. However, she is soon discouraged from contacting the police by a lawyer. Another lodger arrives not long after with an inconsistent story about why he is staying with her, and also soon falls ill himself while trying to distract Mrs Canvey from the case. Making a call to his contact about what to do, the lodger is informed that he must kill the lady before she can reveal the story to the authorities.

2. The Return of the Moresbys

Richard Moresby finds that his wealthy wife has been donating large sums of money to a temple and other charitable organisations working with animals. She also decides to write a will which will leave ninety-percent of her wealth to the temple which is planning research on reincarnation. Arguing about the will, Richard rips it up and his wife decides she is going to write him out of the will, and leave all the money to the temple. Deciding to kill her before she can submit her new will to a lawyer, he laces her drink with sleeping pills in an amount to overdose her. His wife passes in the night, and Richard believes he has got away with it. However, he soon becomes certain his wife has been reincarnated as a cat which visits him to wreak havoc on his life.

3. The Bullet

Jerry contemplates life as he suspects he will not be able to have kids and starts to see a figure from his past - Paul - who he was enlisted in the army with. Remembering back to his army days, the pair are in battle when they receive orders to pull out of the battlefield. However, Paul is shot and killed on their final day after they swapped places when Jerry says that he can't face being shot at again knowing he is due to go home. While talking with his doctor he discusses his feelings of guilt at having survived. Paul continues to appear, before the pair get chance to properly talk at which point Paul reveals that Jerry will die being run-over in two weeks, and that Paul's destiny is to take his place.

4. Lost Dog

Piano teacher Julia has a fear of dogs and has to deal with physically abusive husband George who decides he wants a dog, with little regard for her opinion. Seeking help from a hypno-therapist to overcome the fear, her husband is angered at the lack of immediate progress. Sympathetic student Ronny also attempts to intervene with no success. While under hypnosis, the doctor finds she had a dog as a child when a neighbouring boy threw a stone at the dog, and the dog retaliated badly injuring the boy, resulting in it being put down shortly after the events. Sometime later, now with a dog in the household, Julia has taken to training it to attack and kill based on the smell of her husbands jacket.

5. No Hiding Place

Charles Powell is would-be CEO of a construction company and engaged to the daughter of the company's owner, Alison. A man visits his office and reveals a number which stirs a long forgotten memory. Struggling, he tells his fiancée that his identity is a fraud having been convicted of murder in his early twenties and then subsequently escaping. The man, George, is a former inmate and resorts to blackmail to keep Charles' story quiet, however Alison decides it is best they kill him - making it look like an accident. After being delayed to a meeting with the blackmailer, Charles chases him in a car and causes him to crash. He finds however that George shot and killed Alison, and Charles is arrested and then convicted of her murder.

6. Honeymoon with Death

Jennifer and husband Howard return from their honeymoon however her husband is killed, with the body disappearing soon after. Even more disturbingly, her sister Maggie insists that the wedding never occurred. A passing police officer hears the commotion and attempts to investigate, leaving Jennifer having to convince him that she is not imagining her marriage. Feeling sorry for Jennifer, the officer takes it upon himself to work his own time to find out what happened. Fearing the officers snooping, Maggie and her partner plans to kill Jennifer rather than have her committed to inherit her money, by overdosing her with sleeping pills. As the police officer rushes to help Jennifer, he reveals the details of the scheme and how he deduced the plot.

7. I Warn You Three Times

A man, Tom, disappears leaving his wife Hetty attempting to find him. Hetty enlists the help of Fred, a journalist, before Tom returns insisting that he hadn't gone anywhere. The journalist is left intrigued by the situation with the pair refusing to clear up the misunderstanding, while threatening the journalist to leave well alone. Heading to the journalists office, Tom decides to reveal all and explains that Hetty is a witch who has been married previously, and he realises Fred is falling in love with her, just as he did. Tom finds Fred and Hetty at lunch together, and vows to help Fred save himself. While talking with a police officer friend about the situation, Hetty calls Fred and asks for help. He arrives to find Tom has bought a gun, before Fred and Tom struggle over the weapon. It goes off, hitting Tom, who soon dies. On calling the police, he talks to his friend and works out that Hetty really is a witch.

8. Cold Storage

On the Old Montgomery Estate in Maryland, Beauford believes himself to be finally free of his overbearing mother Sarah when she dies. Planning to inherit her estate and with the death certificate signed, she suddenly reawakens. Plotting to still collect his inheritance, he decides to lock her in an underground tunnel connected to the house with some help from the house maid and her son William. After some time of his mother living in the tunnel, he marries Nancy Lee, who soon becomes as overbearing as his mother and provides his mother with some company by locking her in as well. Beauford's plan ends with him dying of an apparent heart attack though his mother wonders whether it was actually an epileptic fit - as the condition runs in the family.

9. Death Rides a Stallion

Emily is left heartbroken as love interest Frank plans to marry wealthy friend Judy shortly before dying while riding her faithful horse Spartacus. Her uncle Harry considers Frank to be the cause of her death. Frank begins to "hallucinate" that Emily riding Spartacus is following him and trying to get him to go with her as a haunting of her choosing of Judy over her. Judy begins to reconsider her relationship with Frank with Harry suggesting he should have would have been happier with Emily. Deciding to ride Spartacus himself, Frank believes it will break the psychological problem. Judy decides to break up with Frank, who storms off to saddle the horse. Frank soon falls off himself and dies.

10. The Resident

A retired lady, Malvina, moves to the countryside in a home swap, and finds a girl, Viola, and a cat named Evil have forcefully moved themselves into her house. The girl accuses Malvina of being selfish by not sharing her house with herself and the cat. Viola takes charge of Malvina's life by telling her what to do which results in the pair getting into a fight. Evil ends up attacking Viola, and Viola realises that Evil likes Malvina, before suggesting the cat be killed. When the door bell rings, Viola and Evil disappear, leaving Malvina trying to make sense of the events to the confused postman. A letter arrives from the previous home owner asking Malvina to look after their cat, Viola, until they can collect her.

11. Accounts Receivable

Phil is called to the local prison due to his imprisoned father, Rick, being seriously unwell with the offer that he can be released into Phil's custody. He discusses with the warden the whereabouts of money stolen by Rick in a robbery which sent him to prison. He initially rejects the offer due to also having to find money to buy out a business associate to keep his service station company afloat. Finally yielding and allowing his father into his home, he also reaches the deadline for buying out his business partner. Struggling with everything going on, Phil also has to deal with an insurance detective chasing the missing money. Pressuring his father into showing him where the money is located, the two take a ride. Beginning to dig, Rick over-exerts himself before admitting there is no money as he was duped by his partners and that he had to show Phil what money can do even to honest people. The two reconcile before he passes away.

12. You Can Die Again

Spencer has been married for over twenty years, and calls his friend and police officer Inspector Faraday, to say he has murdered his wife Margaret. He also reveals he has been having an affair with "Peggy". However, Faraday fails to believe he could ever commit adultery or murder. Telling the story from the beginning which goes back to the beginning of their marriage, he tells a tale in which his memory is fading in and out as he can not remember his wife, and that the story of his mistress is actually that of how he met Margaret. He tells of his regret of decisions he has made in his life and wanting to live his life over again.

13. A Ring of Roses

To-be-married Lori and George arrive at friend Helena's house, where they see a gruesome scene of a man whipping his daughter. They discover he is angry at her plan to be married to a man he does not like, and she retaliates by killing him and drops the ring. Lori and George to Helena's house to get help where they find that what they witnessed was the result of a scientific phenomena of an event which happened many years ago. Helena's mother tries to hand the couple the same ring which was dropped as their wedding gift, much to Helena's despair, leading the pair to leave as soon as they can. Seeing a woman on the side of the road, George narrowly misses hitting her and discovers it is Helena. Lori agrees to take the ring as a symbol of their friendship. Driving off, George insists she get rid of the ring. As the pair argue, Lori finds she can no longer remove the ring from her finger. Spotting the father and daughter on the road again, the car crashes resulting in Lori's death.

14. The Girl Who Found Things

David Wheeler engages a taxi driver to murder his wife, Geraldine. Her sisters decide to take in a psychic teenager, Iris, when they hear about her talent for being able to find lost items. The girl proves her talent by pointing out the location of a stuffed toy which was lost more than thirty years ago. She also scares David by questioning his various affairs, before trying to seduce him herself. When he rejects her advances, she pushes harder by covering up the murder by saying Geraldine went to San Francisco. Returning Iris to the orphanage, David meets the taxi driver who reveals he moved the body by putting the body in a trunk and sending it on a train, which the police promptly discover.

15. The Chinaman Button

Phil Thurston arrives back at work to find his company has lost a large advertising account. New advertising executive, Walter van Haas, has taken over at the client and is known to be completely upstanding. Phil posits that Walter is not as upstanding as people believe, and that everyone has his price. Phil comes up with a plan to convince Walter that he has a wealthy relative in South Africa who can be killed by simply pushing a button, and Walter will inherit his fortune. Initially disturbed by the idea, Walter eventually crumbles under various money problems at home, and comes around to the idea. Heading to meet Phil, Walter kills Phil to ensure he does not have to split the money with him and heads home to wait for an inheritance which will never arrive.

16. Dead for a Dollar

Multimillionaire trader Jason Grant is the target of a killing by two cheated men; Harry and Wynn. The two sit a bar discussing murdering him due to the effect his business had on their lives. Setting up a meeting, Harry informs Jason that he is going to be killed in exchange for $50,000 by Wynn, however Jason outmanoeuvres him by revealing he records everything in his office. Discussing with his secretary, who is also his mistress, and son Tony, Jason reveals he has been threatened and that he is divorcing Tony's mother. Leaving a number of angry people in his wake, Jason is eventually shot and killed in his own office. The police set about finding out who could be the culprit in the murder.

17. A Very Old Man

Doctor Manfred arrives home to tell wife Bertha about a patient he referred to another doctor for an operation. However, it is discovered that the female patient was referred to Bertha's father Stefan, an old man who people say has healing abilities. He manages to heal the patient just by touch. Bertha thinks her father's mental state is deteriorating, and become more confused when he takes to spending his time at the cemetery at his late-wife's grave. A man also appears at the house describing how the old man was able to cure his horse of an ailment using just his warm hands. Stefan also takes to trying to communicate with his dead daughter Amily who died years before Bertha was born. However another cured patient has the small town believing Stefan a miracle worker, though leads to some resentment from Manfred. As to the two argue, Manfred grabs Stefan but in doing so cures his own arthritis. As the three come to an understanding, Stefan says that Bertha is pregnant with a girl.

18. And Nothing But the Truth

Professor Williams arrives home from the college he works at to find his son, David, has committed a hit-and-run. He plots to take the blame for his son and heads to the local precinct to confess. His bitter wife however threatens to intervene as she knows her son is responsible, and has no trust in her husband. When the victim of the hit-and-run dies, Williams is arrested and signs a confession as to the events of the incident. However, a detective on the case feels he is lying as does his wife. She points out the circumstances of a murder of a girl, Susan, at the same time as the hit-and-run which she believes he has committed. David confesses but is released as the incident was deemed an accident, while his father is arrested for Susan's murder having provided fingerprints earlier.

19. Deadly Honeymoon

A couple, Susan and Daniel, decide to get married after just three weeks of knowing each other, after meeting at a party. They head off for their honeymoon to Monterrey, which requires a number of layovers, and Susan sees the same man around a number of times during their journey. She is later approached by the same man who claims to be a detective working for the New York Police Department. He says that Daniel is believed to have killed his previous two wives, and that she is on his list as the third, as he goes on to describe the similarities between the two cases and Susan's current situation. Susan confronts her husband when he returns to the hotel room and ends up shooting him when he tries to talk to her, resulting in an injury, before heading out to see the police detective now knowing that the entire situation was manufactured by him as revenge for Daniel getting a promotion instead of him.

20. Speak of the Devil

At the Solway Firth in Scotland, young couple Mary-Ellen and Michael are preparing to be married. Staying with her aunt, Genie, who is involved in the spirit world, the three hold a seance which causes supernatural forces to be introduced into the living world. Mary-Ellen begins to have nightmares as a result of the seance. A month passes with Aunt Genie returning from a trip, and Mary-Ellen reveals she is pregnant. Visiting the doctor, Mary-Ellen starts to feel more unwell, and decide on returning home as a way to escape the nightmares, however Mary-Ellen begins to have severe pains the day before they are due to leave. Michael heads to fetch the doctor but ends up dead after being trampled, supposedly by the horse he was riding. In an attempt to find out what happened to Michael, Mary-Ellen demands her aunt host another seance to contact her husband where she finds that the baby isn't Michael's.

21. The Ring of Truth

Lorna and her fiance Mark are travelling home after he has been drinking. He hits a woman who is crossing the road, and recounting the events to her professor father, who disapproves of Mark, suggests she will lie for him. Always bringing Lorna up to tell the truth, he father attempts to coerce her into telling the truth putting her into conflict at the upcoming coroners inquest. At the inquest, the truth spills out of Lorna and Mark is soon sentenced to prison, leading to Lorna abandoning life. After more than a year, Mark is paroled and arranges a meeting with the professor. He has learnt a lot about the professor, and discovered that the professor hasn't always been honest in his own life. The professor attacks Mark and kills him, as Lorna walks in and sees the events unfold.

22. Time and Again

Clockmaker Ethan Vigil is offered a timepiece for sale by a vagrant who knocks on the shop door late one night. Its most notable feature is the addition of a number thirteen, though initially it appears to be non-functional. Ethan soon discovers that the clock begins to run when his wife cuts her hand on it, and finds that the noise it makes sounds like a heartbeat. That night he also learns that it offers the owner an extra hour every twelve hours, freezing everyone else, as Ethan sets about using his extra time to build a perpetual motion machine. However, when Ethan's wife dies, he is left only with his clocks and sister-in-law, who is intent on transforming his shop against his will. The clock meanwhile also begins to demand more blood sacrifices to keep running, as the people who he has fed blood to the clock from have all since died. Realising the outcome of his actions, he resolves to stop feeding the clock.

23. Three Women

A writer, Stephen Lake, is visited by book publisher Albert Higgins who has recently read his manuscript. Albert however suggests that the author has made a mistake by killing off the most attractive character, Clarissa. Stephen however suggests that she had to be killed, and resists Albert's suggestions to reinstate the character, uncertain of what will happen to himself if Clarissa is restored. With Clarissa now appearing to Stephen in his study, he begins to change the progress of the story but suffers under his increasing feelings for Clarissa who he has fallen in love with. With his wife pregnant and Stephen being determined to rid Clarissa from his life, he sets about concocting a plan before setting himself on fire while dealing with his stove.

24. The Man Who Heard Voices

Well-respected lawyer George Sanderson hears the voice of his long-since dead wife, Margaret. She is asking for her pills, and telling him that she forgives him. He is reminded of the events which arose after he began to hear the thoughts of others, when Margaret was injured during a tennis game. To keep her alive, she has to take a pill every two hours which costs him a prestigious promotion. He also meets the attractive Sally, the daughter of his boss, and soon finds she has feelings for him. Struggling to maintain the required schedule at home, he begins to see Sally initially as a friend before they begin an affair with George promising to get married to her. He also discovers that while hearing Margaret's thoughts that she wishes to give up on life, leaving George to ponder euthanasia. He eventually decides to go through with it by deliberately not giving her a pill. However, his new relationship with Sally doesn't entirely go as expected when he injures his own back during tennis in much the same way as Margaret.

25. Mother Love

A couple, George and Paula, visit a doctor in an attempt to discover why they can not conceive, and are awaiting the test results which point to Paula being unable to have a child. Hurt by the news, the couple try to settle back into a home life, though George soon has to go back into work. Paula meets up with her friend to discuss the situation, and fears losing George and the end of their marriage in the not too distant future. Her friend suggests visiting a fortune teller called Mother Love who can tell her once and for all whether a baby is in her future, recounting her own experience of a visit. She takes to paying a large amount of money - six thousand dollars - in exchange for a spell which will allow Paula to carry a child, though Mother Love's initial reluctance is overcome despite offering no guarantees.

26. The Man Who Asked for Yesterday

A man is shot in the head, and taken to the hospital in a bad way. The police wish to stand by his bedside as he talks aloud while unconscious, in the hope of gaining a lead in the case. Meanwhile, the man begins to talk to another voice inside his own head, and reveals that he hasn't been given a chance at life, and that his wife was the one who shot him. Wishing that he could relive yesterday, he discusses what he would do different, with the voice suggesting that he will be able to re-live the day. He begins the story of discussing his gambling debt problems with his wife, who realises that he has now hit rock-bottom and begins planning with his bookie about what to do with him.

27. Dead Ringer

Gloria is driving down a quiet road when she discovers a man who claims he has been hit by another driver who drove off. Helping him up and into her own car, she plans on taking him to hospital, but he refuses to go. Instead, taking him home to provide attention to his wounds, the woman discovers that the man is named Al and is a 'dead ringer' for her husband Leo, and tells him of their marital problems. Al and Gloria soon start an affair, and make plans to be together. However, Al's initial belief that she intends to divorce Leo are corrected when she suggests they concoct a plan to murdering him, with Al taking his place. However, Gloria sets about putting her own plans in motion, as the prospect of collecting on Leo's life insurance policy comes up. However, Al's problems in life come to haunt both Leo and Gloria.

28. A Ghostly Game of Death

A prospective buyer of a house brings in a ghost hunter, Alex Garth, to rid it of its reportedly ghoulish occupant. The ghost is believed to belong to the wife of a sea captain, who was murdered by her husband after being caught having an affair, and has made selling or demolishing the house impossible as its reputation means that most people will not enter. Planning on spending the night in the building, the ghost hunter experiences strange moaning and banging noises, and his dog constantly barking for unknown reasons. Attempting to settle down for the night, Alex soon finds that his dog has been killed - its neck being broken. Alex attempts to discover what the ghost wants, and find a way to get rid of it. However, he also struggles to determine what is real and what is a hallucination during the night.

29. The Sign of the Beast

Millie, an archaeologist heads out to a temple site on an unauthorised journey to join up with Kevin, her partner and another member of an expedition. She however seems unconcerned as she believes she can handle the tour lead - her uncle, Dr. Burt Jorgensen. When Millie's uncle is curt with one of the tribal leaders helping the expedition, she challenges him and he responds by warning her never to compliment them. At a meal, Burt and Kevin inform Millie of the legend of the "Beast Goddess" who if taken from, will turn the thief into a wild animal. When Millie bathes one of the tribal children, she leaves his father angry. The child soon dies of fever, and Millie worries that she is the cause. However, her father shows no animosity and instead gives her a "gift", which he tells her never to tell Burt or Kevin about.

30. Here Goes the Bride

A famous man, Richard Morgan, and his new wife, Jenny, arrive back at his vast home after returning from Japan. She agrees to live in the house which he previously shared with his now dead wife, April. The pair will be joined by Richard's sister Lisa, who has been living in the house for over a year. Enquiring about April's death, Lisa offers to show Jenny the cliff where she died - supposedly having fallen. Lisa however puts doubt on the story, as Jenny also struggles to bond with the house staff who loved April. On her first night, Jenny hears a noise which she puts down to April screaming, and also believes that she unwanted in the house. It is not long before Jenny begins to feel that she needs to get away from both her husband and the house.

31. The Lady Was a Tiger

Larry Fielding has been fired from the newspaper he worked as a journalist for, and on walking home, he is beaten up by three men. Saved by a man named David Wilson who hears his shouts for help, the pair head for a cup of coffee. While talking, Dave tells him of his time as a commander in the second world war, and of the jewels which were taken at the end of the war. He gives Larry a job which requires a trip to Paris with Dave, during which Larry will interview a professor who will give him a map, while Dave attempts to return the jewels which were taken. Feeling apprehensive about the mission, Dave contemplates but decides against backing out. However, it isn't long before Dave is killed leading Larry to go on the run, though he has to contend with double agents along the way.

32. After the Verdict

Luis Rydal is in court on a murder charge, after he killed a young man who had a relationship with his cheating wife, Melanie. His lawyer, Ned Murray, successfully defends Luis who is acquitted. However, back at Ned's office while discussing payment for his work, Ned confesses that he actually did kill the boy. Angry at the revelation and being lied to, Ned sets about trying to convince Luis' wife to be careful and not give him any reason to kill again, though this blows back in his face when she tells her husband, who confronts him along with Ned's boss. With Luis now denying what he said, Ned comes to the conclusion that Luis must pay for his crime, despite there being no legal way to do it.

33. Conspiracy to Defraud

Steve Nash, a federal detective working on drugs cases is sent to Paris, France to track down heroin suppliers. On the flight across the Atlantic, he meets Elaine, who invites him to spend some time with her while in the city. He goes on to meet Elaine's aunt and brother, where he discovers that she has had some emeralds stolen. Elaine later admits that the gems haven't been stolen, but instead it is a ruse to collect on their insurance. While out in the city, he encounters trouble when he is hit over the head, and awakes to find drug kingpin Coladinos in front of him who wants to know why he is in Paris. Eventually being let go alive, for now, he is sent to investigate an incoming shipment. However, the meeting place for speaking with his contact is compromised leading to intrigue about the leak source as Nash chases shadows.

34. The Deadly Hour

A man, Martin Jerome, is driven to the point of insanity by his adulterous wife Helen, with his self-doubt leading him to stop talking. He eventually finds his way to see a psychiatrist twenty-five years later, where he confesses that the doctor is the first person he has spoken to in a quarter of a century. He recalls the story from the beginning, which begins with his wife cheating on him on the night of their marriage and him later busting in on them after Martin discovers she is pregnant. His life later becomes centred on his work, which he conducts by mail, and takes vacations to a cave in a remote area by the sea. However, when attending this year, he discovers a young couple in his cave. The couple reminds him of his wife and her lover, which causes a burning rage, leading Martin to seal them in.

35. Dead Man's Mountain

A ruthless business man, RJ Johnson, buys out a town, which includes nearby Dead Man's Mountain, in the hope of developing it. He sends an associate, George Morrissey, up the mountain on a reconnaissance trip to discover more about it. The mountain also has an associated Indian legend, which states that anybody climbing it will lose whatever means the most to them. George ventures up aged thirty-five-year-old, and returns three weeks later closer to eighty. He is unable to remember much of what happened up there, but believes it is haunted in some way and is desperate for RJ to give up on his development plans. Frustrated by the lack of information from a doctor, George reveals he believes that he has lost his youthful body as it was the thing he cared most about. However, the sceptical RJ decides to climb the mountain to find out for himself despite his secretaries fear of what may happen.

36. A Dream of Death

University professor, Rex Patterson, is charged with the murder of his student Madeline Powers. He recalls the events of the story that Madeline joined his course and intended to write a novel, with the lead character being named Charity Youngblood. However, Patterson claims that he was once to be married to Charity Youngblood - over two hundred years ago - but was killed in battle when he was living as Eli Wallington. Youngblood, scorned at the loss of husband, vows to go on to track him down and kill him, as the pair are reincarnated in the following centuries. Using Madeline's old diary, Patterson continues on through the story and pieces bits of the situation together as he believes Madeline was getting close to him as her novel mimics his former life story. Also believing that she intends to kill him, he agrees to marry her, though eventually realises that he doesn't love her.

37. Dig Me Deadly

A group of archaeology students are on a dig with their professor, when one of the students, Edith Rogers visits the local sheriff Wiley claiming she is being followed and someone is trying to kill her. Detective Claudia Trubshaw is sent to Arizona to help investigate, and the pair discover that Edith has since disappeared, believed to be her voluntarily leaving. While talking, a scream is heard, leading Trubshaw, Wiley, and the professor to check out the situation, which leads to a hand poking out of the sand. Setting about digging up the body, they find that the fully fleshed hand of Edith is attached to a skeleton aged at more than two thousand years old. Trubshaw sets about speaking to the other students and a man who claims his wife has been dead for thousands of years.

38. Under Grave Suspicion

Thomas Drake is having marital problems, and believes his wife Marianne is seeing someone else. At the cottage by the sea he has gone to for a confrontation, he recalls a time before they were married when their relationship was crumbling, with Drake engrossed in his work, resulting in Marianne seeing someone else. Their marriage eventually recovers after she discovers the man she is seeing is not willing to leave his family. This time, Drake believes another professor, Richard Emery, is seeing his wife and asks an acquaintance to warn off the professor. Marianne, and her lover soon show up at the cottage, with Drake confronting them resulting in Drake taking a swing at Emery with a shovel, and hitting and killing his wife. However, Drake soon begins to believe that Emery is his wife's former lover, and takes to killing him as well. Drake resolves to take the bodies out to sea where he can dispose of them, though the weather conspires against him.

39. A Lady Never Loses Her Head

American woman Beth heads to see a police officer who was a friend of her now deceased father, to leave him a memento, which her father had willed to him. She reveals that she is also recently hastily married to an Englishman, Charles, and is moving to the country to his manor house in the Cotswolds. In Charles nearby castle, which he takes to showing Beth around, she spots a family portrait of Elizabeth Chauncey, who is almost a lookalike for herself. Beth also discovers that Elizabeth was married to one of the first Earls, however finds that she was beheaded when she was caught cheating. However, she is believed to still haunt the grounds; looking for her lost head while riding around on a horse. Beth struggles to remove the thought of Elizabeth from her mind, and is unable to settle in to life in her new home.

40. The Walking Corpse

An American couple, Steve and Patricia, take a vacation to a Caribbean island where they meet Chris, an old acquaintance of Steve. Chris reveals that his father, who was leader of his home nation, has recently died after being assassinated. He also states that the murderer was his fathers supposed best friend and his own godfather, and was done due to his father being instrumental in freeing the people of the nation. They believe that his godfather is planning a coup d'etat, which soon catches up with them when a political henchman takes the three of them hostage. The trio are also joined by a US government agent, Bill, who has been keeping an eye on the situation, though the situation soon turns strange when they try to overpower the henchman, resulting in gunshots hitting the henchman, Chris and Bill. However, the henchman proves to be resistant to bullets due to him being a one of a number of zombies being used to take over the island.

41. Blizzard of Terror

Helen Morgan and Jim Crane are caught in a blizzard on Thunder Mountain, and have to cope with the weather as well as their failing marriage. They also hear on the radio that a suspected murderer is on the loose in the area. They stop at a cabin, and receiving no answer at the door, head on inside they discover a bloody scene in the kitchen. A mysterious man, who introduces himself solely as Jake, eventually turns up though seems content with their staying. He does however show himself to be ignorant, failing to grasp the fact that Helen kept her maiden name and retains her independence. The topic of the blood in the kitchen comes up, with Jake admitting he committed murder in the kitchen, which he forces Helen to help clean up. He is also quick to pick up on the marital problems of the couple, and begins to question their relationship. The pair eventually reconcile, though with things looking bleak, the situation does not look to be all it appears.

42. Sea Fever

A ship is deserted with no sign of problems in the log. The captain was Josiah Adams, a large and fearsome man, who was once scalped by Indians but somehow survived with a disfigurement. He embarks on his current mission of shipping slaves from Africa, and invites his wife aboard but confines her to his cabin. However, his wife proves to be a weak spot for the tough man, due to his insanely jealous mentality, when he begins to believe that the other men are after his wife. Adams is challenged by the owner of the ship, to remove his wife from the boat, but he refuses and threatens to put the man in chains if he is not obeyed. Growing ever more paranoid, Adams embarks on a murderous rage against the crew to create his own paradise with just his wife.

43. The Walls of Jericho

Timothy Brindl, an elderly servant to a snobbish Ralph Waldo Emerson Gentleman's Club, who is looked down upon by the guests, decides to make fantastic predictions which will occur at the club and posts them anonymously on the message board. The note remarks that the devil will appear in the club by coming down the chimney and through the fireplace on Junary 12th at 4pm, which they initially write off as a joke. Back at home, Timothy is warned by his wife Martha that the men at the club are looking for a reason to get rid of him, and questions his suggestion of summoning the devil which he may not be able to stop. January 12th and 4pm arrives, and the dark lord appears for a short length of time, though the men can't agree on what they saw. With Timothy enjoying his creation as it divides the men, he moves to on to his next predictions - a naked white goddess and a trio of tigers.

44. The Horla

A writer, Guy De Maupassant, calls his doctor to ask for help as he begins to believe that he is being taken over by an entity - the Horla - which intends on taking over the world. Spying a large boat, a Brazilian three mast schooner also named the Horla, in a nearby port that he can see from his home, he believes that the evil being is aboard the ship. Guy attempts to talk with a sailor of the ship, but discovers that the seaman is affected by a presence he can not see. Continuing suffering from the effects of the Horla, Guy discusses with his doctor the story that he is writing about the being, who in term recommends that he turn his attention away from it. A newspaper article about a madness from Brazil also further reinforces his belief in the being. However, Guy decides that the Horla is resident on the ship, and sets about destroying the boat to destroy it.

45. The Horse That Wasn't for Sale

Krissy Runyon is writing a letter to Judge Simmons to document the events preceding. Starting after the fathers burial, Chrissy tells the abusive stable manager of her fathers farm that the farm and horses need to be sold due to her fathers debts. The stable manager however takes angrily to the news of him being out of a job, and stops feeding Krissy's beloved horse Stargazer, out of revenge. Stargazer ends up killing the stable manager, and is almost recommended to be put down by the judge who believes the horse is mad. Three of the horses are bought by her fathers great rival, a neighbouring farmer Allan Collins. Collins turns up at the farm offering to buy Stargazer, though Krissy declines. Collins soon steals Stargazer to prove he can ride it without getting hurt, and soon feels the wrath of the murderous horse. However, the situation results in Krissy staging Collins death to protect Stargazer, though she is seen by local man Sam who goes on to blackmail her.

46. The Edge of Death

Judy heads off to the doctor for her check-up though is apprehensive at leaving her farmer husband, Alex, who has injured his arm. When he eventually convinces her to leave, his dog finds a case behind his barn. Speaking with his doctor, he enquires about whether he left the case and Judy's health, to which the doctor reveals she has an illness which remains undefined. Judy soon arrives home, in a frantic condition, with a report that she saw Death, and the pair are in danger. Eventually calming down, she describes the events which lead her communicating with the being which she describes as having no face. Alex sets about finding if what his wife saw is real, and soon becomes convinced that her medical condition can be resolved by the contents of the case.

47. A Choice of Witnesses

Mr. Kellerman takes to blackmailing Mr. Bailey who was attending an insurance conference, and did something which may cause the breakdown of his marriage. Kellerman demands forty dollars a month to keep the photographs he took from getting to his wife. After a couple of months, Kellerman attempts to put the payments up another fifteen dollars a month. While out walking his dog, he encounters another man, Mr. Bliss, who enquires about Kellerman, and says he is being blackmailed himself, and is looking to put a permanent stop to it by killing him with the help of others in the same situation. Initially refusing to take part in murder, Bliss explains that he will take the risk and run over Kellerman with his car, as disinterested parties, the blackmailed, observe and blame the blackmailer. When the group goes through with killing Kellerman, without Bailey's help, he begins to struggle with his conscience. Thinking about going to the police, Bliss takes to dealing with Bailey.

48. Out of Sight

Teri, a highly superstitious astronaut believes that her flight, Diana 1, is cursed, purely because she is present onboard which comes to fruition somewhat when the launch is aborted. She debates whether to drop out, with concern for her husband who is the skipper on the mission. However, the crew receives a new launch date for the following day. Lifting off, the shuttle gets into orbit around the Earth and prepare to dock. In radio silence between tracking stations, the crew gets to talking about losing contact which soon occurs while talking with a ground controller. Attempting their backup protocols which also fail, Teri begins to describe her dream of being lost in space. When oddities begin to happen with the ship while docking, the crew begin to receive a communication from an invisible alien species who wish to take them to their home planet for study.

49. Prognosis Negative

Kent Hatcher, a mentally disturbed soldier is in hospital in a bad condition. His commanding officer arrives to check up on him, and reveals the story of him disappearing eight years prior on a mission and only resurfaced in a prisoner exchange. The officer believes he may have been subjected to a brainwashing, and could be particularly unstable. A week later, he begins to experience a recovery due to undergoing intensive treatment though the officer still considers him a risk. Things turn bad however when he kills a nurse and escapes the facility. Kent ends up in a shop looking for clothes, though kills the shopkeeper who tries to alert the authorities. He heads on to a medium who is also advertising a spare room, but decides to use him for her own nefarious plans.

50. This Will Kill You

A journalist, Robert Anthony, publishes a negative review for a book on demonology written by noted demon-worshipper Theodore Rukotski. Rukotski is enraged by the disparing of his work and decides to curse him in response. Anthony defends his review and interest in demons, in that the book presented demons as facts, rather than as a historical record of demons, and he has nothing personal against Rukotski. However, Rukotski predicts during an interview that Anthony will die on a particular date in the future and backs his threat up by wagering his wife's soul on it transpiring. Anthony is soon feeling unwell, and takes to seeing about how he can have the curse lifted.
