Little Blighty on the Down

Series One

Episode One

In the quiet village of Little Blighty, the villagers congregate in the local pub The Cock and Bull in which the serious talking is done as they find the pub closing down for three months over the summer. Mrs Roberts, bastion of the community, attempts to come up with new ideas to shake up village life and prevent the market from expanding too quickly. The council set about finding the cause of otter deaths - a mystery - which is really pollution from the rubbish dump. The school exam results are also out, with everyone getting A's despite some not even turning up. The rotarian society also begins to show cracks with Mrs Roberts position being threatened while a commitee meeting sets about avoiding the villages major issues. Mr Stubbs meanwhile is quite keen to see the village polluted and overbuilt as long as he makes money while the marketers and villagers begin to protest, though an opportunity to make use of the unemployed village youth soon presents itself.

Episode Two

Mrs Roberts standing in the village has improved despite everything falling apart around her as the Working Mens Club continues to try to stop her, though end up fighting amongst themselves. The tradesmen in the village have had all their work taken over by electrician Sparks who has seen his economic prosperity improve under the Rotarian, with the working mens committee bickering about who will stand up for the average man in the village. Meanwhile, two council workers are stuck waiting for rescue after their car gets stuck handing over the edge of a multi-story car park with no one else to rescue them. The other tradesmen confront Sparks about his stealing their work, while Sparks sets about visiting Mrs Roberts to update her on the progress of his takeover of all work. However, he soon finds that the plan for Mr Brownnose's employment scheme for the village youth to take over his work is in motion, leading him and other tradesmen stuck with joining the scheme for work.

Episode Three

The Little Blighty sports team is in training for the district sports day as incidents of yobs causing trouble in the village has increased in recent years. The local police struggle to contain the situation with the sergeant suggesting a return to old-fashioned discipline. A man, possibly a sport teams spy, is brought in on a firearms charge though he is handed over to "Neighbourhood Watch" for interrogation as a large number of villagers take up arms to protect themselves from the increase crime. The sports team leave for the competition, but not before an inspirational speech from Mrs Roberts who believes they will win nothing. The increase in guns leads to a sharp increase in injuries in the surgery though the doctor suggests everyone will have to be more patient to get seen. Meanwhile, at the sports day, shooter Malcolm discovers his gun has been broken and is left without a weapon to compete with while the police in the village struggle with how to dispose with the weapons with the sergeant pondering an armed police force.
