There Is No Escape
1. Domestic Bliss
Returning home from a long day at work, Andrew finds that his girlfriend Emma isn't happy to see him and the house is in a particularly messy state. The pair resort to sniping at each other with Andrew eventually escaping to the shop where he finds an unfriendly woman manning the grocery store who accuses him of being a dog murderer despite not having a dog. Returning home with Turkey Dinosaurs, the attempt at cooking ends up in flames leaving Andrew to escape for a night out with friend Lennie where he doesn't get much sympathy or help. After another difficult conversation at the grocery store, Andrew returns home to begin negotiations over hiring a cleaner before he can get back into the house.
2. Happy Families
It is Saturday morning with Andrew keen to have a lie-in while Emma suggests they get up and go to see her parents. Andrew spends the entire journey complaining about having to spend his day off visiting her parents as well as attempting to come up with ways to get out of it. Eventually arriving, Emma's mother is controlling and overbearing while her father is obnoxious and cantankerous. The situation leaves Andrew having to ring Lenny at work to setup a phone call which will get him out of the visit in exchange for a desk swap. Managing to escape, Andrew ends up with a tire blowout and has to deal with Emma's father providing assistance, Andrew with a bad back, and him and Emma stuck at her parents for the night.
3. Ruthless Ambition
Andrew is bored with there being nothing on television, though finds no sympathy from Emma as he complains about the dross passed off as entertainment. Her idea of going out for a walk has him instead suggest they go to the recycling centre. Back at work on Monday, Andrew finds he has missed an email for a job promotion as the role looks to be heading Lenny's way. Back at home, Emma encourages him to go for the promotion himself though the situation means Andrew has to confront Trisha, the difficult managing director who barely knows who he is. Lenny also handles the situation badly when he discovers Andrew is challenging him for the job, leading to the two having a stationery-based confrontation and losing out on the promotion.
4. Tough Decisions
Struggling to sleep for the third time in the week, Andrew ends up waking Emma with his complaints and worries. At work, Lenny reveals he has the same problems and suggests listening to whale song and drinking camomile tea. Their discussion turns to Andrew having children, though his dysfunctional relationship with Emma poses questions for them ever having kids, while further advice from Lenny has him quit his job. Back at home, Emma reveals that she is pregnant after taking a test leading him to head to the airport to start a new life, though can't go through with it and instead has to inform her father of the situation. Heading back to work, Andrew has to beg for his job back while Emma heads to the doctors to confirm the news.
